OLYMPIC BALLET SCHOOL POLICIES

Students of Olympic Ballet have the privilege of study as well as the responsibility of meeting the standards of the school.

GENERAL

  • Olympic Ballet does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, age, national origin, religion, creed, or sexual orientation. Olympic Ballet is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of the community.
  • Privacy Policy: All personal information given to Olympic Ballet is kept private and is not sold or distributed outside of the ballet.

REGISTRATION & TUITION

  • All students pay an annual registration fee for the school year.
  • The Summer Program is a separate course and requires a separate registration fee.
  • Tuition payments are non-refundable.
  • Monthly tuition payments are a fixed amount based on the semester tuition amount. The number of classes held per month will vary due to holidays, breaks, etc.
  • The ballet office does NOT send regular bills for tuition, nor has the capacity for auto-payments. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to make timely monthly/semester payments.
  • Late fees of $10 will be applied to late tuition payments.
  • Returned checks will be charged a $20 late fee.

COMMUNICATION

  • Conferences with the instructors must be scheduled in advance through the office. Please do not discuss the program or student progress during class time.
  • Notice of dancer withdrawal must be given in writing to the Olympic Ballet School office one month in advance. Please be advised that the dancer would be re-evaluated if they desired to rejoin Olympic Ballet School. There is no guarantee that the dancer will be placed in the same level as before withdrawal.

PHOTO/VIDEO

  • Taking videos and photos of students during classes, including during observation weeks, is NOT allowed.
  • Photographs and video footage taken of students may be used for promotion of Olympic Ballet at the discretion of the Artistic Directors.

ATTENDANCE & CLASS

  • Regular attendance & timely arrival is enforced for discipline and safety in student progress. Dancers need consistency to achieve their goals. Students are expected to complete each semester.
  • Dress code, as specified by class level, is strictly enforced. Hair must be pulled back and neatly secured for all classes. Please NO underwear. No jewelry may be worn during classes. No gum allowed. Pointe shoes must be worn in all pointe classes unless special permission is granted.
  • Make-up classes are NOT offered at Olympic Ballet School, except for studio closures due to inclement weather or instructor’s sickness.
  • Extended absences due to medical reasons or injury require a doctor’s note. Students are encouraged to come and observe classes. Refunds for extended medical absences will be evaluated on an individual basis.
  • Inclement weather may result in school closure; make-up classes may be added at the end of the term. OBS follows the Edmonds School District’s closure policies due to inclement weather.
  • Studio rental for video and/or photo sessions should be arranged with office staff. A rental fee will apply.

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Personal medical insurance is the responsibility of each student. Olympic Ballet School, its faculty, and staff shall not be held responsible for any injury or illness which occurs while studying at Olympic Ballet.
